Great Lakes Alliance of Cooperatives – Fall Retreat 2026

October 16 @ 3:00 pm - October 18 @ 5:00 pm

Hello fellow co-opers;

This event’s standard registration is now closed to make grocery shopping for our guests possible!

If you still want to come to the event, text 269-910-4574 and we can see what kind of accommodations we can make quickly!

Schedule:
~5-8 arrival – Snacks, conversation and big ideas while you get yourselves all settled. There will be no dinner but there will be snacks and some cool prompts that will be featured through out the weekend.
7:30 a little Tour of CPC relevant to the afternoon work projects
9-10 breakfast and chores.
~10:15 ~ 11:30 Grounding, agenda setting, perpetual power map explanation with Abby Lochman
Visualizing our connections across co-op sectors and finding ways to fill in gaps and make new connections
~ 11:30 ~ 12:45 Communication with Abby Lochman
Understanding different directions of communication (inter-sector, sector-to-sector, and outside of the co-op sphere entirely) and how we can strengthen the cooperative movement by communicating differently in each direction.
1:15-2:15 lunch and chores
2:15-3 rest and work project prep
3~5:15 Work projects with Noah
All abilities welcome and represented. We are constructing a working group who will use chores and work projects around CPC to test our communication skills and expectation formation while working collaboration with other “like-minded” people who certainly approach things differently from ourselves.
5:30-6:30 Room for emergent programming
6:30-7:30 dinner and chores
8 ~ Updates and Conversation Centering Advocacy for Co-operative Development Center with Maggie O’Connar
Evening – more convening and relaxation
7:30 another little walk about
9-10 breakfast and chores
10:15 ~ 12:15 – “The Guy” with Rowan Price
Who is The Guy? Does your co-op have one? Join us to learn what happens when a co-op comes to depend entirely on one person for their skills or energy or time, what happens when that person inevitably burns out, and what we can do to better share responsibility and power in our organizations!
12:15-1:15 free associations and follow up
1:15-2:15 lunch and chores
2:15 ~ done – start organizing for the next one in the spring
